Muscat: The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) launched on Wednesday the "Artaj" interactive application, the State Administrative Apparatus Coordination Portal, and the Central Data Repository project on Wednesday at a ceremony held at the Grand Millennium Hotel in Muscat.

The initiatives marks a step towards enhancing statistical awareness, advancing digital transformation, and supporting evidence-based decision-making in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

Dr Khalifa bin Abdullah al Barwani, CEO of NCSI, said the launch of the three initiatives reflects the centre’s commitment to continuously developing the national statistics and information system and leveraging modern technologies to support Oman’s development journey.

He highlighted that data is a key enabler of economic and social development, noting that NCSI is working to establish an integrated national statistics and information framework that improves institutional efficiency and strengthens cooperation among government entities.

The “Artaj” interactive application was developed to promote statistical and knowledge awareness among different segments of society through an innovative educational experience that combines learning and engagement. The application aims to introduce children to statistical concepts in a simplified manner while encouraging curiosity and digital learning skills.

The Government Administrative Apparatus Coordination Portal serves as a central digital platform designed to enhance integration among government entities by streamlining communication, coordination, and the exchange of reports, studies, publications, projects, survey results, and data within a secure digital environment.

The portal will enable government institutions to share data, indicators, and studies in a structured manner, supporting policy development and decision-making based on accurate information. It is also expected to improve government performance, reduce duplication of efforts, and enhance resource efficiency.

Meanwhile, the Central Data Repository project represents a strategic national initiative supporting digital transformation by establishing an integrated platform for managing, consolidating, and providing access to national data. The project aims to unify data sources, improve data quality and reliability, and support planning, policy-making, and the preparation of development indicators.

Al Barwani noted that the three initiatives align with the National Strategy for Statistics and Information 2026–2030, which provides a framework for developing Oman’s statistical and information systems. They also support NCSI’s Communication Strategy 2026–2030, which focuses on strengthening institutional communication, expanding access to reliable information, and delivering innovative knowledge-based services.

The ceremony included presentations introducing the three initiatives, followed by their official launch and a review of their expected outcomes in supporting the national data system, enhancing government integration, and accelerating digital transformation.

The launch forms part of NCSI’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Oman’s data infrastructure, promote statistical culture, and develop digital capabilities that support sustainable development and informed decision-making.
